“I realized that our culture taught me that my emotions were not to be trusted.  I was told they were too big. I have denied them. Blocked them. Despised them. Today, I make a different choice. I consider them my barometer, a guide to CREATING the life I want.”

“I am a woman who lost track of herself.

At one point, I would have explained it as

having no choice but to overwork

and neglect myself and my family.

But now that I stand in a different place,

I hold a different perspective, and I see the world and the past in a very different light.

Change is the one constant we can count on

November 01, 20252 min read

Change is constant.
It’s how everything alive is designed.
Everything alive is meant to become different.
We are meant to become different.

So why does change so often feel painful?
Because when we resist it, we unintentionally create suffering.

It’s like clinging to the edge of a riverbank, afraid to let go, while the current of life is pulling us forward anyway.

How do we resist change?

When we feel guilty, ashamed, or afraid, we resist change.

When we linger in regret about choices we made and blame ourselves or others, we resist change.

When we avoid what we don’t want to face or deny what we know is true, we resist change.

When we try to control the uncontrollable…other people’s choices, actions, or decisions…we resist change.

Often, these patterns of resistance didn’t begin with us.
They were quietly passed down through generations, woven into family dynamics and reawakened in our closest relationships.

Not because life is cruel, but because these very relationships are meant to be gateways to liberation, freedom from inherited ways of living that resist inevitable change.

Seen this way, the people in our lives right now may not be obstacles.
They could be invitations.

Invitations to release guilt, fear, and shame through one simple yet powerful choice: forgiveness.

Forgiveness?
Yes. Forgiving ourselves for the thoughts we’ve hidden in shame.
Forgiving ourselves for what we did when we were hurting and ended up unintentionally hurting someone else.

Forgiving ourselves for not being able to see another choice at the time.

And forgiving others for the very same thing…for hurting us when they were lost in their own pain, for making choices they now wish they hadn’t.

It is this act of choosing to forgive, ourselves and others, that awakens the capacity to truly forgive.

With forgiveness, the resistance that causes so much pain begins to soften.

The weight of old emotions lifts, and we can feel the current of life carrying us forward with greater ease.

Forgiveness begins not by figuring out how to forgive, but by choosing to forgive.

That single choice activates something new within us.

Possibilities open.

Guidance becomes clearer.

We begin to cooperate with the unfolding of our own desires.

Recap:
Choose to forgive.
Start with yourself.
Feel the flow that follows.
Relax into it and let it carry you forward.
Then extend it to someone else.

As you do, the current of change gains momentum.
You flow more easily, no longer clinging to the riverbanks of resistance.

With love for who you are…and who you are becoming,

Jodi
