Walking With My Mum

October 26, 20252 min read

I went walking with my mum in Plymouth the other day and saw a statue honoring the women who came to this land and used the gifts within them to nurture families and build communities that could survive.

It surprised me. Growing up here, like in many places across the U.S., it is often men who are thanked.

The women of the 1600s entered the unknown.

They relied on an inner current of spirit, made up of courage, resilience, intuition, and nurturing, to guide them through the unknown. That spirit became their strength, their compass, their lifeline.

These qualities flowed through generations to us, to today.

The tenacity, the wisdom, the quiet strength, the ability to adapt and grow is inside us. It is us.

These qualities were inherited as a living force within us, eager to be further activated and reawakened.

Through the centuries, despite attempts to diminish women, we have repeatedly rediscovered pieces of ourselves…our voices, our gifts, our capacity for love, our instinct to heal, and our desire to connect in subtle and profound ways.

Now, that same current of feminine energy rises again.

It is soft and strong, gentle and unrelenting, forgiving and enduring, flexible and adaptable.

It is a divine energetic force flowing through us, infusing us with the inheritance of courage and wisdom our ancestors entrusted to us.

As we nurture these parts within, we become further prepared to once again step fully into the unknown…not with fear, but with intention, focus, purpose, and clarity.

This energy is alive in us. It guides us. It shows the way forward.

We are its keepers, its channel, its embodiment. Its vehicle.

Together, we carry this energy forward, for our ancestors, for ourselves, for those who come after us, and for the world that awaits its return.

We are the way forward.
